The three rivers Pabos

The Three Pabos Rivers are dependant of the Gulf of Saint-Laurent. They are with out doubt the most beautiful Rivers on the planet whit there crystal-clear waters and most honorable past. Their composed of 140 kilometers of rivers, to witch 50 of them are fishable. One particularity of The Three Pabos Rivers is the manditory catch and release of Salmon measuring more than 63 centimeters. We should understand that catch and release is to insure a prosperous number of years fishing in the future. It's there for an unforgettable adventure that these Rivers running through vergin forest has to offer you.

It's not wrong to pretend that the Salmon Rivers in Quebec are the most beautiful on the planet. It was finally a volunteer group Le Regroupement pour la Restauration for The Three Pabos Rivers inc. (RRTRP) that after eight (8) years of TremendousEfforts, can be extremely proud to now offer to Anglers throughout the world...Three Suberb Salmon River, Three Rivers with legendary past, Three River that have finally come back to life...

  Other species
     

 

Beside Salmon, we can find Sea Trout (spring trout )ranging from 1,4 Kg et 2,7 Kg (3 à 6 pounds). Also, the three spines epinoche, American Eel, Atlantic Tom Cod and Rainbow Smelt are the small species who inhabit our Rivers.

  • Since the reopening of Salmon sport's fishing after 8 long years of restauration and redevelopement , we should understand that catch and release of adult salmon is obligatory on the The Three Pabos Rivers.

  • Mandatory catch and release of adult Salmon (63 centimeters and more) throughout the season from the 15 june to the 30 september.

  • Daily capture limitation on the three rivers.

  • Access rights and captures control :

  • Weather it's the Grand Pabos Nord River, the Petis Pabos or Grand Pabos Ouest , the users of The Three Pabos Rivers can receive their access rights and register them captures at our Registration Office witch is equal a Regional Tourism Information Center Entrance, East of Chandler at :

Poaching :

Poaching is a curse action that threat the survival of the Salmo Salar species in the rivers. It's there for important that you, sports fisher man collaborate with the conservation officers and the RRTRP to fight against poaching, all you do is contact :

  Tariff of access rights for The Three Pabos Rivers :

None-reserved : 28,50$
*Reserved : 57,51$ and 80,52$

The tariff remains the same for none-residents.
This tarification can change.
* The price for reserved zones depends on the rivers.

2- For the 48 hours advanced draw during the fishing season, you can enter by telephone or directly at Tourist Information Office.

How doing 48 hours draw :

  • The completed card accompanyed by 2$ has to be deposited at the information office the latest 18 hours before the draw.
     
  • The draw is at 9 o'clock each morning.
  • The list of winners will be poasted at the office and it will also be available by phone at (418) 689-4912 or by toll free at 1-888-374-8437.
  • The persons who do not payed 15 hours before the fishing day will be resold immediately.
  • One fisherman canot reserve more than one sector group by day on The Three Pabos Rivers managing by the RRTRP.
  • The holder of a fall reservation in a sector group can also use the 48 hours reservation system.

Petit Pabos rivers

The Petit Pabos River is a tributary of the Saint-Laurent gulf, like the Grand Pabos Nord and Grand Pabos Ouest River. She get her source in the high plateaus of the Gaspé, at an altitude of 450 meters and runs a sinuous course of a distance of 55 kilometers before dumping into the Saint-Laurent gulf at the height of the town of Pabos in the territory of the MRC du Rocher Percé in Gaspésie. Actually, we can fish only on the first 20 kilometers in 7 sectors (3 limited) holding 63 pools.

    The water of the Petit Pabos River is notably crystal in color, even emerald

Water color : very transparent
Aspect after rain : cream color lightly greenish
Temperature : from cold to cool throughtout the season
Flow : Constant and rapid but can change rapidly with rain
Level : High early season, can be medium to low mid-season and rise in september
Bottom : real clear and consist entirely of gravel

 

     
   

Grand Pabos Ouest river

The Grand Pabos Ouest River is a tributary like the other two of the Saint-Laurent gulf. She gets her source also in the high plateaus of the Gaspésie but main from the head of lakes at an altitude of 450 meters running a sinuous 30 kilometers coarse before dumping into the Saint-Laurent gulf, at the height of the municipality of Pabos-Mills, on the territory of the MRC du Rocher Percé in the Gaspésie. Still considered as an "test river" , we can actually fish on the first 10 kilometers on foot only in 2 sectors (1 limited) holding 8 pools.

  Water quality
     
    Because she's essentially fed from the head of lakes, the Grand Pabos Ouest River is not as transparent as the other two.

Color : relatively transparent
Aspect after rain : dark and cloudy
Temperature : While it's influenced by rain, it's generally from rapidly with rain
Flow : It's flow becomes greater during periods of strong precipitations and vary with seasonal changes. The flow reacts rapidly with rain.
Level : High at the beginning of the season and low mid-season and later rise again in september
Bottom : With a dark colored bottom, it consist mainly of grave and medium size rocks

 

   

Grand Pabos Nord river

Like the other two rivers, she gets her source from the high plateaus of the Gaspésie but at an altitude of 425 meters, it runs a sinuous coarse of a distance of 42 kilometers before dumping into the Saint-Laurent gulf, at the height of the town of Chandler.

Actually, the Grand Pabos Nord River are fishing on her 20 kilometers, on foot or by canoe, on her 20 kilometers all along the sector 2 (1 limited). Concerning accomodations, there is a future project for the construction of another cabin.

The history of the Grand Pabos Nord River compairs with that of the twoat the beginning of the XXth century. Frequented by Native well before the arrival of the European Explorers this river, "the Pabog" in mic mac, offered his peoples something for survival a good part of the year. The fishing Industry along the coast brought the Basques, the Germans, the British, the English, the Jersiais and the Americans.
